Hi! Welcome to Danforth Jr. High!
I am really looking forward to helping all the students I work with have a wonderful experience for this 2015-2016 year.
I am the Special Education and 504 Department Head. I have been in Wimberley for 30+ years and teaching here at the Jr. High for 18. Amazingly, I have been teaching for 35 years and enjoying each year. I love what I do! Helping learning disabled, dyslexic, ADHD students and parents learn to navigate the academic expectations of the Jr. High is what I hope to accomplish each year. Being a consultant to teachers about accommodations is also a part of my job.
I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BA in German (please, don't ask me to speak German or understand you - that was another lifetime it seems!) and a Education (Generalist - Special Education and Reading Specialist Certification).
I live outside of Wimberley with my husband who is a master custom furniture designer/builder; we have one son, Bryan Camelo Colca who has graduated from UTSA with a degree in architecture and is presently working at Burleson Design Group here in Wimberley . Outdoor landscaping, gardening and cooking are my interests as well as reading - 3 book club groups I count among my out of school personal activities.
I really enjoy managing the 504 & special ed departments and helping our students of all levels navigate through the junior high years. Finding a "way around" difficulties is my business!
Let me know if I can help in any way!! I love Wimberley Jr. High School.
