Hi! My name is Carol Sue Merkin and I teach 6th grade math at Wimberley Junior High. I am so happy to be a part of Wimberley ISD! I was raised in San Antonio, and in 1972 I married Randy Merkin, whose family had property in Wimberley. We spent every weekend and holiday in Wimberley all of those years, and it had always been our dream to make Wimberley our permanent home. That dream became a reality in 2002 when a portion of the Merkin family ranch became ours.
I have taught at the junior high level for 28 years. This is my thirteenth year to be teaching math at Wimberley Junior High. I feel so blessed and privileged to teach at such a wonderful school, and in the town where I looked forward to living for so many years!
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics and a minor in Science. I taught science for many years, and then returned to college to get my teaching certificate in math. I have 4 children, all married, and thirteen grandchildren! When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time at our home, with my family, swimming, riding horses and doing sewing and crochet projects.
